Drinking your first cup of traditional jasmine tea, with its heady sweet scent of spring, is an experience you will never forget.
Most jasmine teas in NZ mix green tea with artificial flavouring and don’t have the same depth as traditionally blended tea. Often there is also a fishy element to their aroma.
Traditionally prepared Loose Jasmine Tea is different
Young organic tea leaves are hand picked during spring in China’s Fujian Provence.
The delicate leaves are then dried and combined with freshly picked closed jasmine flower buds.
As the jasmine buds blossom they release their heavenly fragrant aroma which is readily absorbed by dried tea leaves.
The blossoms are then removed and the process is repeated 5-6 more times.
The end result are powerfully aromatic and sublime tasting Loose Jasmine Tea which has significant health benefits.
The major health promoting properties of Jasmine Tea come from epigallocatechin gallate, also known as EGCG.
EGCG is a powerful antioxidant that helps improve and prevent many health conditions
– calms and prevents inflammation
– lowers triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood
– prevents LDL cholesterol from oxidising and blocking arteries
– regulates fasting blood sugar and insulin to help prevent insulin resistance
– promotes the use of stored fat as an energy source for the body
– improves oral health by killing and preventing plaque-forming and other bacteria
A small amount of caffeine combined with theanine in this tea improves focus and cognition to make one feel calm and relaxed.
